Can I just brag on God? I am so excited to announce the release of my upcoming workbook “Overcoming the Narcissist, Sociopath, Psychopath, and Other Domestic Abusers: Workbook for Support Groups & Bible Studies to Recognize, Remove & Recover from Abuse“! This is a companion workbook to the award-winning 600 page big book (of the same name https://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Narcissist-Sociopath-Psychopath-Domestic/dp/1951310004/ ) for support groups and Bible studies with a proven curriculum that helps women who are targets of abuse go from victim to victorious!
The Back Story
Here’s the back story: In 2015, I started establishing and facilitating support groups for a local domestic violence organization. To my surprise, they had no curriculum for these support groups, and I could find nothing on Amazon. When COVID hit in 2020, the local domestic violence organization stopped support groups just when victims were stuck inside with their abuser 24/7 and domestic abuse reports increased over 600%. That’s when I approached my local church, Gurnee Community Church, and asked if I could host faith-based support groups in person at the church and online. The response was a resounding “yes!” And the Overcomer’s Spiritual Spa was born.
Having just published in 2020 what has come to be known as the “encyclopedia” of domestic abuse books, and with reliance on the Holy Spirit, I wrote a curriculum and workbook to guide women of faith through the process of recognizing abuse, safely removing themselves, and healing so they can become the women God designed them to be. Over the next 5 years, the curriculum was honed with feedback from dozens of women across the country who have participated in the support groups and Bible studies. Now the workbook is ready for publication so that other churches and faith-based domestic violence organizations around the country can offer their own support groups and Bible studies for women with an easy-to-follow, proven curriculum.
Like the first book, this workbook is ground-breaking because there is still no other readily available curriculum for support groups and Bible studies. And, like the first book, the workbook has a “decoy” cover (see the pink cover below ) so the reader can turn the book over when the reader’s safety is compromised.
I am anticipating a July 26, 2025 release date. It will be available on Amazon and other places where books are sold.
The statistics on domestic abuse are mind-boggling. 35% of women at some point in their lives will experience stalking, rape, or physical abuse, and 48% will experience coercive control or emotional/verbal abuse. Over 90% of abusers are male. The percentage of abusive relationships within the Church are, sadly, just the same as those outside the Church.
God is the Great Healer, and I have had the amazing privilege of seeing Him work first hand in changing lives. We can’t change the past, but, we can join in God’s work to help women heal and make the world a safer place for our daughters and granddaughters. Won’t you join me?
How to Support Those Affected by Domestic Abuse
If this has struck a chord in your heart, I invite you to support this movement. There are a number of ways:
– Join the book launch team to spread the word, promote the book on social media, write an Amazon review, and have a VIP invitation to the in-person launch party on September 20, 2025. To join, follow my author Facebook page at Charlene D. Quint – Author. I will give more information and updates there.
– Grab a copy of the book on Amazon (even better, shop on July 26 when it is released) and give it a kind review. (Due to the sensitive nature of the book, many people may be hesitant to leave a review. Please know you can leave an anonymous review on Amazon).
– Donate copies to your local church or domestic violence organization
– Start your own domestic abuse support group at your local church or domestic violence organization
– Let your Pastor, Director of Women’s Ministries, or local domestic violence organization know this is available as a resource
– Volunteer or donate at your local domestic violence organization
– Visit the website www.AbuseCare.org to get updates and blogs and share with those who need the information
– Follow Overcoming the Narcissist, Sociopath, Psychopath and Other Domestic Abusers on Facebook for inspirational messages and share with those who need them
– Ask your local church (or denomination) to reach out to me to teach a training session to pastors and church leaders on how they can support victims of abuse and hold abusers accountable (even though all pastors have to deal with this at some point, it is not taught in seminary ,and pastors are almost universally ill-equipped to deal with domestic abuse in their congregations)
– Pray for that the resources needed will get into the hands of those who need them
– Pray that the Church will open its eyes to how it can support victims of abuse and hold abusers accountable, and be a leading force in this area
– Call, email, or send a direct message if you have questions or ideas
With truth and love,
Charlene
